Nestled in the vibrant heart of Brooklyn’s Williamsburg neighborhood, Caribbean Social Club is more than just a bar — it’s a cherished community haven that pulses with authentic Caribbean spirit. Located at 244 Grand St, this gem encapsulates the warmth, pride, and rich cultural tapestry of Puerto Rican and wider Caribbean life, making it a true home away from home for locals and visitors alike.
Stepping inside Caribbean Social Club feels like stepping back to a time when social clubs were the heartbeat of the community. The intimate space is thoughtfully arranged around a snooker table, accompanied by cozy small tables and a lively bar area. An inviting outdoor patio adds to its charm, offering a relaxed spot to soak in the neighborhood energy. The air buzzes with classic Puerto Rican rhythms, instantly transporting you to old San Juan or a spirited fiesta in the Caribbean.
At the helm is Toñita, the warm-hearted and unforgettable owner whose genuine love for her community radiates through every corner of the club. Guests consistently praise her as the soul of the place, offering “bendiciónes” reminiscent of the care only a beloved abuela could provide. Patrons like KayLove describe Caribbean Social Club as “a true representation of Boricua love and pride” — a rare cultural sanctuary where memories and friendships flourish.
The drink selection here mirrors the bar’s approachable vibe, with thoughtfully priced staples like $3 Corona beers that invite you to share a toast with friends. Meanwhile, the menu offers a flavorful snapshot of Caribbean comfort food. Dishes such as Yuca Con Huevos Y Queso Frito and Rice with Gandules deliver satisfying layers of texture and spice, while the birthday cake and pastelitos satisfy sweet and savory cravings alike. Don’t be shy about adding a dash of their signature hot sauce, which brings a robust kick that perfectly complements these traditional bites.
What truly sets Caribbean Social Club apart, beyond the authentic food and drinks, is its unwavering commitment to being a gathering place for community connection rather than a commercial hotspot. As noted by longtime patron Ernesto Santibanez, it embodies “a hidden Caribbean gem” dedicated to fostering warmth and fellowship. The energy here is contagious — from the lively dance floor to the engaging conversations that spill over into the night, every visit feels like a joyful celebration of heritage and friendship.
Whether you’re craving an authentic Puerto Rican atmosphere, a taste of cherished Caribbean dishes, or simply a welcoming place to unwind and make new friends, Caribbean Social Club delivers an experience that lingers long after you leave. It’s a vibrant reminder of how powerful a local social space can be in nourishing both body and soul.
Great place to stop by admire the ???????????????? vibe this place took me back when social clubs were everywhere
This is a Party e’ Marquesina for me, $3 dollars beer? BET. Looks like old San Juan bars, dancing good Puertorrican music. This is old school, the owner is an old lady and she’s awesome. An AC maybe? Probably is going to defeat its purpose but it doesn’t hurt asking
We had an amazing party time with a great group of people in a PR atmosphere.
This is home away from home. A true representation of Boricua love and pride. If you missed your Mom or Abuela back home in P.R. come get your bendiciónes from Toñita.
What a hidden caribbean gem! This place left me a sense it focuses more on creating a meeting point for the local community than profits. Toñita is really a wonderful character. Small tables are arranged around a snooker table, there's a bar and a small outdoor patio. The place is full of Caribbean character and music, what a find !
Fun and iconic place. But impossible to get a drink and it feels like you are in a sauna. Hanging out outside is almost better than being inside the actual place. But def worth visiting if you are in the area!
